Writing about marriage restoration was never really my intention for this blog. But I have felt very strongly that the Lord has wanted me to write these posts and have them available for anyone who might benefit from what my wife and I learned from all the Lord brought us through. I am more than willing to respond to any questions, thoughts or comments you may have about marriage restoration.
I will say, walking through a marriage crisis and seeing things through to restoration is not an easy road, but I am confident it is much easier than going through a divorce. The impact of a divorce will effect the generations to come for years in ways we may never know about. But on the flip side of that, the impact of a marriage restored by God will also effect the generations to come for years in ways we have yet to dream of.
It all boils down to allowing God to do a work in each of our individual lives and learning what it means to truly love one another. It’s allowing Christ to be formed in us in such a way as to totally transform every aspect of our lives. Even though a troubled marriage is something I wouldn’t wish for anyone, I will say, I am thankful to have gone through what we did and to have come out on the other side of things, by God’s grace, with a marriage that has been restored and a new hope to share with others.
Listed below are writings of some of the things we learned along the way, as well as a few resources the Lord used in our lives to bring us closer to Him and closer to each other. May the Lord use them as instruments to bring about transformation in your life and restore any part of your marriage you may be struggling with.
If you’re marriage is in crisis and you’re looking for something you can plug into right away, I strongly suggest the Personalized Prayer Scripture link. This is a page from Rejoice Marriage Ministries that will allow you to enter your name and your spouses name and print out personalized scriptures for you to begin praying over yourself and your spouse.
Also something men can begin using right away is

The Power of a Praying Husband
by Stormie Omartian
This is a great book because each chapter deals with a specific topic to pray about and at the end of each chapter is a small bit of advice from another man about the subject and then there is an actual prayer you can begin praying over your wife concerning the topic of that chapter. So you don’t actually have to finish the whole book before you can begin applying it to your life! But I strongly recommend finishing it and using it on a regular basis.
There’s also one for women! It’s in the same format as the men’s edition, which means you don’t actually have to finish the whole book before you begin applying it to your life. But, again, I strongly recommend finishing it and using it on a regular basis. Both of these books should be available at your local bookstore.

Another book that the Lord used to get my feet back on the ground was Dr. James Dobson’s “Love Must Be Tough.” In this book you will find generous examples of how to position yourself and where you should stand on certain issues that may arise in your marriage during a time of crisis.
